Over the last week I have been looking at my search strategies in finding material for my literature review. Prior to last week I was hitting a brick wall when it came to searches on my topic. I’ve now learned that I need to look at my topic from all possible angles, looking at the many words that could replace other words. By doing this I have come up with a large number of results. It’s also been great because it’s given me a new way of thinking about my research project. It is still the same as what my research proposal stated, but with different glasses on. Where previously I was looking at ambiguous identities in online communities, I am now looking at the construction of identity in online communities (that is just one example of how i am now looking at my research). Tweak the words and you will hopefully get over those stumbling blocks.
